University of Michigan Stamps School silk scarf printed with the painting Autofagia by Jon Verney
The Stamps School silk scarf, from Jon Verney's painting 'Autofagia'.

A painting turned into silk

The Penny W. Stamps School gave us a large-format file of 'Autofagia', a 56 by 64 inch work on canvas by Jon Verney, MFA '16, made with oil, acrylic, rock salt, copper sulfate crystals, iron oxide, caulking and epoxy resin.

We cropped the piece to a square with care, then added the artist's signature, the school logo and a narrow plain border to create a truly one-of-a-kind silk scarf.

How we work

Every Harris Made commission follows the same 4 steps: a conversation with Emma, our designer and co-founder, about what makes your institution special; hand-drawn designs; samples for your approval before production; and making in Britain, with a final inspection by Emma before each gift is wrapped in a client-branded presentation box.
