This silk scarf and tie take the Smithsonian's simple, iconic sunburst, the symbol that unites its museums and research centers. The scarf carries one large sunburst, with the rolled edge tipped in a thin contrast border. The tie repeats small sunbursts in 2 tones of blue. Often the simplest motif makes the most stylish design.
The Museum gave us its 'Carboniferous Forest' artwork, its logo and a color palette from which to choose the scarf's shoestring rolled edge. Our silk mill matched the colors exactly, and the scarf is a delight to the eye whether worn rolled or scrunched.
Every Harris Made commission follows the same 3 steps: a conversation with Emma, our designer and co-founder, about what makes your institution special; samples for your approval before production; and a final inspection by Emma before each gift is wrapped in a client-branded presentation box. Tell us about the people you want to recognize and the story you want to tell. We'll design a bespoke gift to be cherished and made to last a lifetime.
